《乘龙怪婿4》延续前3部紧扣时事、借古讽今的风格，人物命运发生的戏剧性变化是该武德训因一文钱的失误而下台，沦为一心奋发的打工族；贾发为缴银两保公爵称号而四处找钱；尚下九当上了镇官却志大才疏；贾夫人无意中得到深厚内功四处发威……一系列喜剧反差也随着人物命运的变化而产生：武德训平民身份和官腔的反差、尚下九贵为镇官与小市民习气的反差、万金尤富婆身份与长舌妇本质的反差等等。而貂蝉的新对手，东北青年冬豪冲也将登场，进入客栈当伙计，与美女老板貂蝉展开一段迂回而浪漫的爱情。
